According to the 2007 KPMG and SAVCA private equity industry performance report, four of the top ten largest private equity transactions of 2006 were facilitated by Absa Capital - including the two biggest deals in both Safripol and Mvelaphanda Resources. Together, they were worth over R2.5 billion.
Evidence of Absa Capital’s market presence can also be seen in our number two ranking in Risk South Africa’s annual derivatives end user survey for 2007. Of particular note was the much improved performance in Interest Rates Overall and Equity Overall, from 4th to 2nd in both categories.
With the backing of Barclays Capital, Absa Capital concluded the R25 billion Edcon leveraged finance deal in 2007.
In essence Absa Capital is well positioned for the opportunities available in South Africa’s vibrant and rapidly developing economy.
